General Terms and Travel Conditions

The following explanations summarize in short form the essential elements of the contractual and travel conditions of Swiss Riva Travel. For all points not mentioned or for detailed information, the customary regulations in Switzerland or the practices of the Swiss travel industry apply.

1. Conclusion of Contract:

The contract between the travel participant and Swiss Riva Travel comes into effect with the confirmation of the written or verbal registration (booking). The booking person assumes responsibility for the accompanying persons.

2. Travel Offers:

The trips offered by Swiss Riva Travel in brochures, leaflets, advertisements, internet and teletext are high-quality package tours. A price per person is published for the described service package. Additional services, excursions, extension weeks and fees are designated separately.

3. Services:

We commit to fulfilling the promised services in accordance with the descriptions. Changes may occur between the time the offers are printed and the execution of the trip. The currently valid services are described in the travel confirmation/invoice. However, we point out that special customer requests are welcome but cannot be confirmed or guaranteed.

4. Prices:

The services described in the program offers are published in package prices, surcharges, prices for excursions and fees per person in Swiss Francs. Exceptional influences may require short-term price adjustments.

5. Payment Terms:

Upon conclusion of the contract, a deposit of the total travel price is due within 4 weeks before departure. The remaining payment is to be made 4 weeks before the start of the trip. In case of short-term bookings, the full travel amount is due at the time of booking and must be paid in any case before departure.

6. Program Changes:

If your trip cannot be carried out as planned for any reason, we reserve the right to make program changes. Swiss Riva Travel will strive to find the best solution for you in such cases and, if necessary, discuss alternative options with you. Changes in flight schedules, hotel changes due to external influences or rescheduling of a trip due to insufficient participation, etc., may result in program changes.

7. Cancellation of the Trip:

Cancellation by Swiss Riva Travel: If a trip cannot be carried out due to lack of participants and the substitute offer from SWISS RIVA TRAVEL does not appeal to you, you will receive a full refund of the travel amount.
Customer cancels the trip: If you cannot start the trip on the agreed travel date, you must immediately inform the booking office or us personally or in writing. The date on which the cancellation is received is decisive for calculating the cancellation costs. In addition to the cancellation costs, handling fees (CHF 100 per person, maximum CHF 200 per booking) will be charged. Depending on the fare, the airlines have strict conditions regarding changes, rebookings, etc., before and after the issuance of the flight tickets. Any expenses of this kind will be charged to you in addition to the handling fee, see table.

8. Cancellation Costs:

The shorter the notice of cancellation, the higher the costs. For package tours, these are as follows:

30–15 days before departure 30%
14–8 days before departure 50%
7–3 days before departure 80%
2–0 days before departure 100%

Failure to commence the trip without prior notice, late appearance or being prevented from departure due to insufficient travel documents will result in costs amounting to 80–100% of the travel price. You can protect yourself against this damage with cancellation insurance. However, this only covers inability to participate in the trip due to illness, accident or death of the traveler or a close person.

9. Liability Conditions:

a) General: We are liable to you as the tour operator for careful selection, organization and provision of the agreed services. The agreements at the time of contract conclusion are decisive. Changes remain reserved.

b) Service failure: If an agreed service fails due to the fault of a service provider (provided no substitute was offered to you on site), we will reimburse the failure or additional expense. Liability is limited to direct damage.

c) Force majeure: We are not liable for program changes resulting from flight delays, strikes, force majeure, official measures or omissions of third parties for which we are not responsible.

10. Complaints:

If an agreed service is not or insufficiently provided, you are obliged to report the defect immediately and request a remedy on the spot. If a defect cannot be remedied during the trip, a complaint must be submitted in writing no later than 30 days after return. SWISS RIVA TRAVEL will treat it fairly. In case of disagreement, we refer to the Ombudsman of the Swiss travel industry. Place of jurisdiction is Zurich. Swiss law applies.
